My Approach to Care:
I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with her Master of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University. I began my career as a Registered Nurse on an Inpatient Adult Acute Psychiatry Unit. As a Nurse Practitioner, I have nearly 15 years of experience working with a wide variety of mental health conditions. During my career I have had extensive experience working with individuals in crisis, with the aging population, with adults with mild to severe mental illness, and those with complex medical issues.
My approach to care is collaborative and evidence based. I believe in developing a personalized treatment plan for each client that emphasizes the importance of shared decision-making. I offer longer, unrushed appointments that provide for a more therapeutic approach to care because I believe medication management is just one part of successful psychiatric care. I emphasize accurate diagnosing and using the least amount of medications and lowest effective doses whenever feasible. I value collaboration, whether with your therapist, primary care provider, specialists, family, and friends.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time outside with family and friends. My hobbies include running, biking, hiking, and playing soccer. I am also a proud member of the LGBTQI+ community and through my practice I provide safe and affirming care.
